Dear Nationals and Friends,
Forty-five years ago, Antigua and Barbuda took its rightful place among the community of sovereign nations. Since then, we have charted a remarkable journey of growth, resilience, and achievement. This milestone is not only a celebration for those at home, but for all Antiguans and Barbudans around the world — and in particular, for our dynamic and distinguished diaspora here in Canada.
This year, as we mark 45 years the Consulate General wishes to specially recognize and celebrate Antiguans and Barbudans who have distinguished themselves in Canada.
You have made us exceedingly proud.
Across this great Country, you have distinguished yourselves in healthcare, education, law, public service, business, entrepreneurship, the arts, culture, sport, community service, and faith-based leadership. You have excelled with humility, served with dedication, and represented our twin-island nation with honour and dignity.
You embody the very best of what it means to be Antiguan and Barbudan — industrious, innovative, hospitable, and resilient. You have not only contributed significantly to the prosperity and multicultural fabric of Canada, but you have also remained steadfast in your connection to home, giving back generously and ensuring that our flag continues to fly high.
The Consulate General expresses profound gratitude for your continued support, your exemplary citizenship, and your unwavering commitment to both your homeland and your adopted home.
As we celebrate this 45th anniversary, we recommit ourselves to strengthening our bonds with you, our diaspora. You are indispensable partners in nation-building. We invite you to continue to engage, to inspire our youth, to invest in our future, and to join us in writing the next chapter of our national story.
During the course of this week, we will pay special tribute to persons within our community who lend to its richness and who exemplify the true meaning of our national motto.
We welcome your recommendations for those who should be recognized for their contribution and commitment to Antigua & Barbuda and our community here in Toronto.
In addition to those who will be recognized this week, we will celebrate five (5) others at the Thanksgiving Service on Sunday 8 November 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Church of Saint Jude (Wexford).
Today, we are pleased to recognize Mr. John Mills for his outstanding contributions to the community. Please see the attached biography below to learn more about his achievements and service.
