Remembering Chef Andrew “Andy” James
Antigua and Barbuda has lost a beloved chef, husband, and friend with the passing of Chef Andrew James, affectionately known as Andy.
As the owner of Aqua House Restaurant at the Anchorage Inn Hotel, Andy shared his passion for cooking with residents and visitors alike. His involvement in Antigua and Barbuda Culinary Month reflected his commitment to celebrating the island’s cuisine and culinary talent. For Andy, cooking was also a deeply personal expression of love, especially when preparing meals for his wife and family.
On Saturday, September 26, 2026, Andy suffered a stroke and was rushed to hospital, where he fought bravely in the intensive care unit. Despite the dedicated efforts of his medical team and the love and prayers of family and friends, he passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
His sudden passing is especially heartbreaking because, just weeks earlier, on August 29, family and friends had gathered to celebrate his wedding. Andy began this new chapter filled with love, hope, and excitement for the future he and his wife would share.
Those who knew Andy will remember his kindness, friendship, generosity, and unforgettable spirit. Through the gift of organ donation, his generosity continues, giving others a second chance at life and leaving a lasting legacy of hope.
Andy’s passing leaves an enormous void in the lives of his wife, family, friends, and the wider community. We extend our heartfelt condolences to all who loved him.
Rest in peace, Andy. Your warmth, your passion, and the love you shared will always be remembered.
