ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA HAS LOST ANOTHER CULTURAL ICON.
The calypso art form has lost one of its most endearing souls. Former calypso king and Road March winner Joseph "Calypso Joe" Hunte has died. He won his only crown in 1971 but his song Bum Bum, which won the road March title in 1970, became an eternal favourite among fans.
Calypso Joe will also be remembered for two of Antigua and Barbuda's best known nation building songs - A Nation to Build, a Country to Mould and A Tribute to VC. He left his mark as a major contributor to the country's culture. With guitar strung around his neck, he along with his late friend 'Franco' were favourites on the hotel circuit.
