As one of the members of Team Antigua Island Girls, if I had to tell you what made the Pacific row in June-July 2023 so much more intense than our Atlantic row in 2018-19, I would start and end with the weather conditions. Yes, there were other challenges before, during and after but those are stories for another time. The weather, however, set the tone for our respective rows. 

There is a burgeoning organisation called the Elkhorn Marine Conservancy (EMC) that is working to enhance the local stewardship of Antigua’s marine ecosystems.
How are they doing that? In three notable ways:

Wadadli Pen is back with a Challenge for writers in Antigua and Barbuda of all ages. Prizes will be broken down by age group; 12 and younger, 13 – 17, Adult (18+).

The Antigua and Barbuda government recently rolled out its roster for the very first "Restaurant Week", just two weeks after its successful inagural "Artweek" met with rave reviews. Mitzi and Howard Allen, the dynamic-duo of Antigua and Barbuda filmmaking and cinematic arts and production, the daring duo that helm HAMA Films, are celebrating their thirtieth year of marriage and filmaking with their fifth feature film "Deep Blue".

The Antigua and Barbuda Youth Symphony Orchestra celebrated its fifth year of operations in April with a series of concerts, workshops, master classes and appearances across Antigua.

Ethnic media outlets have traditionally played a crucial role in helping newcomers navigate life in their newly adopted home. Rarely, though, have they been as invaluable as they were during the Covid pandemic.
